Top restaurants in 2019 and upcoming restaurants in 2019

These were the top adresses for 2014 in Belgium according to culinary resencent Bruno Vanspauwen in ‘De Standaard’.

1. Hertog Jan in Zedelgem

On July 22nd 2014 the new Hertog Jan opened it’s doors after 4 years of planning and renovations. The restaurant, led by chef Gert De Mangeleer and maître-sommelier Joachim  Boudens, holds three Michelin stars.

2. The Jane in Antwerp

This restaurant of inspirer Sergio Herman and chef Nick Bril opened it’s doors om March 25th 2014 in a former chapel. They were awarded with their first Michelin star in the new Michelin guide of 2015.

3. De Superette in Ghent

This establishment of Flemish foodie Kobe Desramaults was awarded with the Best Belgian restaurantconcept of 2014! Desramaults and his team will represent our country at the International Concept Restaurant Awards.

4. Publiek in Ghent

Flemish foodie Olly Ceulenaere and girlfriend Kelly Dehollander opened the doors to their restaurant Publiek in January. They already obtained a Michelin star.

5. Va et vient in Kortrijk

Matthias Speybrouck is the creative masterbrain behind this restaurant Va et vient. He learned his trade from topchefs Sergio Herman and Kobe Desramaults.

6. Souvenir in Ieper

Joke Michiel decided to throw a different approach when she got into business with Vilhjalmur Sigurdarson. His focus: deliver food that’s fresh, qualitative  and affordable.

7. Essence in Ghent

A pop-up restaurant that takes us back to the bare essence of food: vegetarian raw-food. Professional Raw Food chef is Julie Van Den Kerckhove who learned the trade at the Living Light Culinary Institute in Californië.

8. Bún in Antwerp

Bún, a new culinary hotspot and the first Vietnamese streetfood restaurant in Antwerp. Vietnamese Hao Truong and Huibrecht Berends have joined hands in a streetfood version of Little Asia.

9. Oak in Ghent

Chef Marcelo Ballardin and Dominik D’Hooge opened restaurant Oak with their version of fetterless gastronomy.

10.Ogst in Hasselt

The opening of Ogst, by comrades Sébastien Wijgaerts and Diederick Herbots, came a little to late for publishment in the culinary guides. Their dishes are refined, original and varied in both tastes and textures.

Eight out of ten already made it to the Belvicci guide.

1. Carcasse in Sint-Idesbald

Well renowned butcher Dierendonck opens his restaurant Carcasse on January 15th.

2. Table d’ Amis

The toprestaurant of chef Matthieu Beudaert and his wife Sofie Delbeke,  moves to the centre of Kortrijk and opens his doors on Februari 25th.

3. Cochon de Luxe in Ghent

Tom Van Lysebettens, former chef from Coeur d’ Artichaut, will open the doors of his new restaurant on March 1st.

4. Wout Bru in Ghent?

Wout Bru stated in an article that he want’s to open a new restaurant in February. Ghent has come to his attention as a possible location.

5. Jan Roegiers in Ghent

Word just got out that former member of Parliement Jan Roegiers will open his own restaurant in the citycenter of Ghent. He worked as a freelance chef including in Coeur d’Artichaut.
