This year Berlin hosts the 65th annual International Film Festival. From 5 to 15 Februari 2015 the Berlinale shows around 400 films in 30 different venues all over Berlin. It’s one of the world’s leading film festivals.

Every year the festival attracts movie stars, celebrities and global media attention.


golden bearAside from the glitter and glamour there are awards to be won. Films in the competiton compete for several prizes, including the most coveted Golden Bear for the best film and a series of Silver Bears for acting, directing, writing and production. This year 19 out of 23 films are competing for the Golden and Silver Bears.

American film director Darren Aronofsky will host as the President of the jury. German film director Wim Wenders is said to be presented with the Honorary Golden bear.

Isabel Coixet will open the Berlin International Film Festival with the world premiere of ‘Nobody wants the night’. It will participate in the competion as will 20 other world premieres.

The Berlinale shouldn’t ofcourse be the only reason to visit Berlin.The city has an incredible number of museums and sights to behold.

The Pergamom Museum is located on the Museum Island in Berlin. It was built as a three-wing complex. The museum is subdivided into the antiquity collection, the Middle East museum, and the museum of Islamic art.


The Gemäldegalerie is a museum where the main collection of the Berlin State Museums is displayed. It boasts one of the world’s most important collections of European art ranging from the 13th to the 18th century.

If you’d rather take a stroll and take in some fresh air, boulevard Unter den Linden is sure to take your breath away. This boulevard runs through Eastern Berlin from the Brandenburger Tor in the direction of Alexanderplatz. Its definitly worth your while to discover this bit of the city on foot (2 km) as you pass a lot of important sights.
